Bandanas - They’re Not Just For Dogs

So I knew I wanted to talk about BANDANAS because I absolutely love styling with them.  But I needed a catchy phrase for this article.  I did a search to get my creative juices flowing and everything that popped up was phrases on DOG bandanas!  Okay, that does it!  Bandanas definitely need to have a serious comeback as a woman’s accessory!  Are you with me?

I don’t just wear them on my head, although all of these pictures are showing them on my head.  I also wear them around my NECK in place of a necklace.  It makes for a more CASUAL look than a necklace.  And sometimes ~ sometimes, I have a LONG scarf that I can use for a belt!  I love that style!  The problem with that, of course, depends on the size of the scarf and the size of my WAIST (which unfortunately is on the upswing right now, but I’m working on it).

I decided I needed a GREEN scarf for St. Patrick’s Day that’s coming up, but my only green ones were Halloween or Christmas themed.  What does that mean?  SHOPPING!  Now bandanas are pretty cheap, normally around $2 at Walmart and they have a pretty decent selection.  I found a green PLAID one (I love plaid) that will work for St. Patrick’s Day and other times as well, but then a couple OTHERS caught my eye.   Happy with my purchases, I had to go back to my website “Home” page and update the “Number of Headscarves In My Closet” to 43!  WOW!  That sounds like a lot doesn’t it?  Most are BANDANAS, but some are small scarves.  I have one that has Sponge Bob all over it and another one with mustaches that I’ve collected over the years.

But remember, they are so VERSATILE and most are inexpensive.  I’ve even found some that are long and silky at The Dollar Tree!  They aren’t long enough for ME to wear them as a BELT, but they leave a nice “tail” I wear to the side when I have them on my head.  I like that a lot!  I think it makes them look very feminine and it makes me feel FANCY!

I don’t like things to be too “matchy-matchy”, but I do try to tie the COLOR or one of the colors in the bandana or scarf in with something else I’m wearing, even if it's my belt or shoes.

So what do you think?  Do YOU wear bandanas in any of these ways?  Do you think you’ll give it a try?  We often get in a style RUT, and maybe this is something that would get you out of that rut ~ just a little style CHANGE.   We can’t let the dogs have all of the bandana fun!  I’d love to hear YOUR thoughts.

Try a bandana and send me a picture in the comments.  I want to see how you STYLE them!

Have a great week my friends!
