Fashion on a Budget: The Beauty of Simplicity
SIMPLICITY ~ “the state of being simple, uncomplicated, or uncompounded” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). SOPHISTICATION ~ having a refined knowledge of the ways of the world cultivated especially through wide experience” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Those two terms seem to be CONTRADICTORY which makes having them intertwined even more impressive.
Can it happen? Can you have both simplicity and sophistication? Absolutely! But in order to carry this out, you must also apply a serious amount of CONFIDENCE. Why? Because if you don’t believe in yourself, if you don’t CARRY yourself in a manner that is not to be underestimated, others may not believe in you as well. Not that it really matters what others believe, but I GUARANTEE when someone sees you wearing confidence, they will take notice of what you do and say.
So the first thing you need to put on is your CONFIDENCE. Wear it loud, wear it proud, hold your head up high!
Let’s talk about this DRESS. If I were to describe it in one word it would be COMFORTABLE! The color I’m wearing is called “wine01”. I also have it in "lake view” which I wore to a wedding with a pair of heels and then switched to flip-flops for dancing at the reception, it is that VERSITILE! I’m definitely going to have to get it in black, (or maybe black polka dot) too because that is a MUST for any wardrobe. This dress is basically a sleeveless t-shirt dress, made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. It is super SOFT, lightweight and has a stretchy feeling. Now on to the shoes. I LOVE Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Sneakers! I have several colors and absolutely adore them. Why? They are so comfortable and can be dressed UP or DOWN. These too are available in so many colors - it’s CRAZY! You can also get them in high tops, which I have seen worn with dresses as well. There are just so many options. If you don’t have Converse sneakers I encourage you to get a neutral pair, like white, black, or grey, and see what you can do with them, how you can wear them. I truly think you will be amazed. THEN, try another color, maybe your FAVORITE color (yes, I have them in purple too), and then. . . . so many options!!! Remember, it is so important to be able to wear an item in many ways, that’s what makes this so budget friendly!
The last thing I like to add, to give me that little extra spiciness, a basic little touch of simplicity and yet also sophistication, that touch of confidence . . . . SUNGLASSES! I am wearing my absolute FAVORITE pair, my black “cat-eye” Coach sunglasses. Now don’t think “there she goes, not so budget friendly”. But maybe you’ll change your mind if I tell you I’ve had them for over 10 years. That’s right, 10 YEARS! And considering I wear them almost EVERY DAY, I’d say they are definitely budget friendly. I take care of my sunglasses, keeping them in their case when I’m not wearing them. Have that SPLURGE item and wear it often!
Be COMFORTABLE, keep it SIMPLE, and buy your next outfit in a budget friendly manner with these items. You won’t believe the COMPLIMENTS you will get on them. Of course there will be the spoken compliments, but you will also get them from people who remain silent but INWARDLY are thinking “she looks AMAZING! I want that. I want to be able to wear something that is comfortable and look just as FABULOUS as she does”.
